I have modeled oral communication skills during all of my lesson and routines. I have stated my expectations clearly to all students and have explained to them exactly what they are supposed to do for each lesson.
I have not modeled written communication skills. I will write on the whiteboard in level 2.

Example 1- During my first routine, lining the students up for specials; I used oral communication skills when I stated my exceptions. I told the students they were to put their binders away, grab their music folder and recorder, then line up in a single file, silent line. I let them know once those things were done, the students would be able to go to specials.

Example 2- During my read aloud I had a different procedure than my CT typically does. I was doing a full group discussion and then a small turn and talk segment with their shoulder partner. Before I started the read aloud, I explained to the students what the different discussions were going to be. I paired them into groups so they would know who to talk to when it came the time. When I asked a question from the reading, I let the students know if it was going to be a turn and talk or a whole group discussion.

Example 3- Similar to example 1, I lined the students up for lunch. Before we did anything, I got up to the front of the class, and told them exactly what to do; push in your chair, grab lunchbox or lunch tag, then line up in a single file, quiet line. I communicated to them that once everything was done, we would head down to lunch.
