I have practiced conveying high expectations to all of my students each day I am in the classroom. I set my exceptions up at the beginning of the lessons and procedures I have participated in. I do this by choosing my words wisely and carefully, I make sure to give step by step instructions and remind the students that they are capable of doing my expectations.

Example 1- Lining students up for specials. This was the very first routine I did in the classroom. I stood up in the front of the class, stated my clear exceptions; a single file, quiet line, hands to self, as we head to music. I reminded the students that they have shown they can do this and that I was upholding the same expectations as my CT.

Example 2- During my read aloud, I conveyed high expectations throughout the lesson. I reminded the students of my exceptions; only talk when instructed, raise your hand to answer questions, stay engaged though the reading, turn and talk to partners, and participate in the group discussion. I stated these high expectations clearly to all students and knew they could uphold my exceptions.

Example 3- Lining students up for lunch. I did this routine with the afternoon group, who typically is more outgoing and talkative, I stated my clear high exceptions for them and made sure they knew that I was going to uphold all exceptions that my CT has for them as well as the new expectations I have. This included no talking, no touching each other, single file line, assigned leaders and door holders. The students understood my expectations and were able to get to lunch on time.
