One thing I noticed is my model responses showed a lot of love and community. My original belief was that it takes a teacher and a student to effectively manage a classroom. Although, you cannot do any of these aspects without love and building a relationship with the students. I believe that it is important to build relationships with students so there is a common respect between the students and the teacher. Doing this will allow the teacher to be able to effectively manage a collaborative classroom environment since the teacher will know her students and what they like and are capable of doing. I think there was a connection between my model and my peers’ words because collaborative classrooms must have positive relationships between the students and the teacher.
This will help me in my future classroom. I will first get to know my students and what they like to do, one thing I have noticed in my level 1 internship is some students are not comfortable being leaders in certain routines, while others love it and would be line leader every day. It is important to get to know the students first before giving them jobs and things to do in the classroom.
