After each of my lessons this semester, I have given students a formative assessment. For math lessons, it is easier to know what to assess and how to assess them through the worksheet the district gives us. I will grade my students on a scale of 0-3,
0- No participation and students did not understand the concept
1- Participated but does not understand the concept
2- Participated and has an idea of the concept
3- Participated and understands the concept
I make sure students get a 2/3 on the assessment, otherwise, we will go over in small groups or one one-on-one.
I have given end-of-unit math tests, but I have not created a math test. Students are graded based on their answers on the worksheet. The assessments directly align with what we have learned and the learning objectives.
For ELL, if they need it they are allowed to work one on one with me to answer the questions. This would not result in any points getting taken off. The students say what they are thinking with guidance and I can write it down on their paper.
This is a formative assessment I gave students that showed 15/17 mastered the assessment.
